It is well known that both Cat5e and Cat6a cables are components of Ethernet cable. Most of you might have been thinking about which one to choose when it comes to selecting one of them.
Well, there are different functions and capabilities of both the cables and are used for transferring the internet data connection.
Cat5e is going to be less expensive than Cat6 and Cat 6 is going to be less expensive than Cat6a. You are paying more with Cat6a because of the higher speeds and functionality.
Here we will discuss the functions of both Cat5e and Cat6a cables. Also, which one to choose when it comes to connecting the applications:
Features of Cat5e:
High-speed cabling in Category 5e is an upgraded version of legacy category 5 cables that have been used for over 15 years, making it the most obsolete version. These cables provide up to 328 feet of Gigabit ethernet and usually consist of 24 pairs of gauge wire. Cat5e cables were the first to provide 1 Gigabit network speed when they first arrived on the scene, which is now the bare minimum you should be considering in our view. They are much cheaper than Cat6a.
Features of Cat6a:
This is the newest and one of the most powerful Ethernet cables, delivering the same 10Gbps speed but 330 feet for a total. Cat 6A cables are an upgrade on Category 6 cables of the first generation, the “A” being an improved one.
These cables provide lightning-fast speeds that make them suitable for 10 G networks and high bandwidth requirements. Even they have twice the frequency number of Cat 6A to a total of up to 500 MHz.
Which one to choose between Cat6a and Cat5e cables:
When it comes to between these two cables, people much prefer the Cat6a, as it is comparatively much better than Cat5e. It has more durability and has faster networking speed performance. But if you have a low budget, then you can go for Cat5e.
